fried flatbread

  Ingredients List:

  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • 3 cups self rising flour
  • Water as required
  • All purpose flour for board
  • 1 tbsp. cinnamon
  • Honey as required
  • 1/4 cup chopped walnuts
  • 2 tbsp. Greek extra virgin olive oil
  • Pinch of salt
 

Method:

  1. Pre-heat veg. oil to 350*f in frying pan
  2. In a large bowl, combine self rising flour, salt, olive oil and water
  3. Mix well adding enough water for dough to come away from bowl edges
  4. Flour work surface with a/p flour
  5. Place dough onto floured work surface and lightly knead
  6. For into 8 equal balls and roll out to 1/4" thick
  7. Fry until lightly browned on both sides

 

Notes & Tips:
  • Makes 8-10 flatbreads
  • Place flatbread on paper towel lined plate immediately after frying to absorb excess oil
  • For sweet option simply sprinkle with cinnamon & walnuts and drizzle with honey
