Kourabiedes | Traditional Greek Butter Cookies


  Ingredients List:

  • 5 cups a/p flour
  • 3 cups icing sugar
  • 150g slivered almonds
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 lb. salted butter
  • 1/2 cup Greek brandy


  1. Pre-heat oven to 350*f/160*c
  2. In a large bowl or mixer add softened butter and egg yolks and mix well
  3. Add icing sugar, brandy and vanilla and continue mixing for 3 minutes
  4. Add half the flour and mix slowly for 3 more minutes
  5. Add remaining flour and almonds and mix for 5 more minutes
  6. Form kourabiedes into desired shape and place 1" apart on parchment paper lined baking sheet
  7. Bake @350*f for 15-20 minutes or until lightly browned
  8. Allow to completely cool and sprinkle liberally with icing sugar


Notes & Tips:
  • Makes 35-45 cookies
  • Allow cookies to completely cool before covering with icing sugar
