Apple Surprise Coffee Cake | Milopita

  Ingredients List:

  • 1 cup Greek extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 5 cups flour
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 6 apples
  • 1 tbsp. cinnamon
  • 1 cup walnuts
  • Icing sugar for garnish


  1. Pre-heat oven to 350*f/160*c
  2. In a large mixing bowl add olive oil and 1 cup sugar and mix well
  3. Add eggs and continue mixing for 3 minutes
  4. Gradually add flour & baking powder and mix well until the consistency of wet sand (crumbly dry dough)
  5. Peel and cut up apples
  6. Place apples, remaining sugar and cinnamon in food processor and blend
  7. Add walnuts and continue blending for 1 minute
  8. In a 12" round pan, pour 1/2 the dough mixture on the bottom and spread evenly
  9. Pour over apple mixture and spread evenly
  10. Pour over remaining dough and spread evenly
  11. Bake @350*f for 25-35 minutes or until top is golden brown
  12. Allow cake to cool completely before dredging with icing sugar 


Notes & Tips:
  • Can be sliced into pieces or scooped like crumble
  • Any type of apple can be used
  • Can also be glazed
