Baked Baklava Stuffed Apples

  Ingredients List:

  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cinnamon stick
  • 2 cloves
  • 4 apples
  • 1/2 cup walnuts
  • 1/4 cup almonds
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • Sprinkle of nutmeg
  • 4 tsp. butter
  • Water as needed
 

Method:

  1. Pre-heat oven to 375*f/180*c
  2. In a small sauce pan, add first 4 ingredients and bring to a boil
  3. Simmer for 5 minutes and set aside
  4. Core and hollow out the apples and place in baking dish
  5. In a food processor, add the walnuts, almonds and cinnamon and process to the  consistency of wet sand
  6. With a teaspoon,  stuff apples with nut mixture
  7. Fill baking dish with about 1/4" of water
  8. Bake for 1 hour @ 375*f
  9. Once baked, spoon cooled syrup over apples

 

Notes & Tips:
  • Serve as is, with whipped cream or ice cream
  • Can be made ahead and re-heated
  • Recipe can be doubled
  • Any type of apple can be used
