Greek Sausage & Biftekia Bake with Lemon Potatoes

  Ingredients List:

  • 4 white potatoes
  • 1 sweet potato
  • 3 celery stalks
  • 4 carrots
  • 2 tbsp. paprika
  • 1 tbsp. dried rosemary
  • 4 garlic cloves
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • 6 Greek sausages
  • 1-1/2 lbs. ground beef
  • 1 onion
  • Bunch of parsley
  • Bunch of mint
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tbsp. dried Greek oregano
  • 1/3 cup Greek extra virgin olive oil
  • Salt & pepper to taste
 

Method:

  1. Pre-heat oven to 400*f/200*c
  2. Chop potatoes, celery and carrots and place in roasting pan
  3. Sprinkle with paprika, rosemary and add 3 minced garlic cloves
  4. Add the juice of 1 lemon, season and mix well (see video)
  5. Place the 6 Greek sausages on top of veggies in single layer and set aside pan
  6. In a large mixing bowl, add ground beef, chopped onion. parlsey, mint, dried oregano and season
  7. Add egg to ground beef and mix well to combine
  8. Form into 6 even sized patties and place over sausages (see video)
  9. Bake uncovered on the middle rack for 1 hour and 15 minutes

 

Notes & Tips:
  • Makes 6-8 servings
  • Serve immediately 
  • Serve with a Greek horiatiki or lettuce salad.
  • Can be also be served with mixed greens (horta)
