Greek Village Bread

Ingredients List:

  • 800g a/p flour
  • 500g warm water
  • 1 8g yeast packet
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. sugar
  • 1/4 cup Greek extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 tbsp. white vinegar
  • Sesame seeds for garnish

 Method:

  1. Preheat oven to lowest possible setting
  2. Add yeast and sugar to water and set aside
  3. In a mixing bowl add flour and salt and mix until combined (about 3 minutes)
  4. Slowly add water with yeast, olive oil and vinegar to flour and mix well until dough pulls away from bowl (about 10-15 minutes)
  5. Place dough on parchment lined sheet pan and form into desired shape
  6. Place bread in low temp. oven and TURN OFF
  7. Let dough proof/rise for 1 hour
  8. Remove bread from oven and preheat to 350*f
  9. Baste bread with water and add sesame seeds or other seasoning
  10. Bake bread @ 350*f for approx. 60 minutes or until crust is golden brown

  • Bake on middle oven rack
